Sharm El Sheikh Land-Based Resort with a Twist – Diving Sites in Egypt’s Red Sea

Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village in Sharm El Sheikh is a diver’s hotel, very laid back and offers hillside rooms and some beach cabins. This is not your fancy touristy resort; it is mainly for divers that want best value accommodations, and some great diving opportunities.

Named for the vibrant hued “sea sawdust” that floats in the water, the Red Sea offers some of the most beautiful sea life and color saturated reefs anywhere in the world.  Bedouin-owned and operated by Umbi, Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village is determined for you to enjoy that beauty to its fullest extent!

Sharks Bay has a private jetty, dive centre, and offers both early morning and night diving in addition to the usual day dives.  Come explore wrecks, spot sharks, coral gardens and steep walls, all waiting for you to photograph and treasure.  After your first dive of the day, partake of the warm lunch being served and relax for a few minutes before it is time to embark on your second dive of the day.

Sharks Bay Umbi boasts an internet cafe, free Wi-Fi, dive centre and shop, private jetty, walk-in-beach access for diving, snorkeling and swimming if you like, a bar, restaurant and supermarket and a fleet of five dive boats.  One final perk, as a guest of Sharks Bay Umbi, you will be first in the water as their boats leave the docks first.  Be treated to the most memorable diving experience you will ever have at famous dive sites like Tiran, Ras Mohammed, Sha-ab Mahmoud, Sha’ab Ali, and Sha’ab Abu Nuhas.

The diver’s hotel mentioned above definitely offers a twist from the normal tourist resorts. Having stayed at the Movenpick in Sharm El Sheikh several years back I can attest that it is not the resort that sticks in my mind, it is what I saw underwater that stays with me to this day and was one of the most unique experiences of my life. So, whether you indulge in first class/deluxe accommodations at a Movenpick, Hilton, Hyatt, Radisson, Marriott, other more expensive resorts that dot the bay in Sharm el Sheikh or your budget predicates a best value low-cost diver’s hotel … “know this, everyone experiences the same thing when you get underwater, so don’t let your budget stop you from going!”

I shared some of mine! Please share your favorite Sharm el Sheikh Resort and Red Sea diving experiences in the comments section below.
