Florida’s Fresh Water Caves – Extreme Historical Cave Diving at its Best

While most every experienced diver knows Florida has amazing dives in the saltwater, it is not as well known that some of the best cave diving in the world lies in Florida’s fresh waters. Not too many people have ever had the opportunity to see the magnificent underwater chambers, fossils, and mastodon tusks from thousands of years ago, but the fresh waters in Florida provide that exact opportunity, as long as you have the nerve to put on a mask and flippers and go find them. From beginner’s caves like Ginnie Springs to the much more challenging and rugged Devil’s cave system, you can play it safe or test your limits, depending on the capacity of your air tank and courage. The more difficult cave systems offer the diver the opportunity to engage in an underwater world that is, in part, still unmapped.
