Dive Shops – Scuba Gear and Diving Equipment Suppliers, Source for Diving Lessons and more

Dive shops offer more than just scuba gear and diving equipment, many offer diving lessons, can be a source for a wealth of diving information, and some dive shops even offer dive destination trips. Scuba diving requires that you purchase or rent equipment, likely from a dive shop. While it is not always necessary for you to have your own equipment to dive, it is better to purchase most of the scuba gear you will use than rent due to safety, quality, fit, and availability. Below is a list of all the vital components needed as requisite dive equipment:

  • Dive Regulator: Supplies air from the tank and expels it as you exhale.
  • Alternate Air Source: Second mouthpiece for sharing air “Octopus”.
  • Exposure Suit: A wetsuit or drysuit depending on water temperature.
  • Dive Mask: Used to keep your eyes dry and provide clarity underwater.
  • Snorkel: Used for breathing at the surface.
  • Dive Fins: Used for moving you easier in the water.
  • Buoyancy Vest: Buoyancy Control Device (BCD) Used to control your position while diving.
  • Dive Computer: Monitors your time left and depth.
  • Compass: Used for underwater navigation.
  • Whistle: Used to gain attention at the surface.
  • Air Tank Cylinder: Stores your air (optional as provided by most dive operators).
  • Weights: Used to assist your buoyancy control (optional as provided by most dive operators).
